About me

My name is Karina and I’m an artist and seamless pattern designer.

I create children’s illustrations and unique seamless patterns for fabrics that tell their own stories.

But it wasn’t always this way! As a child, I never imagined I would become an artist!

My journey began at university, where I studied programming while also building websites. I even worked as a junior developer for a while, but soon realized I wanted something more creative. After graduation, I switched to designing banners and brochures, then worked for a large international company creating website and app interfaces. But the corporate world wasn’t my dream, so I decided to take my own path!

Read more about my journey below!

How it all started

As a child, I loved drawing, but I never dreamed of becoming an artist.
It was just a hobby, like for many kids.

After finishing school, I had to choose a profession. I went into engineering and programming and later got a job as a developer in a small company. But after six months, I realized that creativity was much closer to my heart.

First steps

I started freelancing, creating banners and brochures for advertising. And quickly realized that I needed more variety. That’s why I switched to web design. An office job with a stable salary — it seemed like everything was perfect!
But I felt like the job just wasn’t fulfilling.

A step toward my dream

In 2019, I bought an iPad and started drawing again, just for myself. It felt like a breath of fresh air!
Then, an idea struck me—I should open an Etsy shop. Without overthinking, I set up my store and uploaded my first illustrations.
Just two months later, I made my first sale. That was the moment I knew: this is what I want to do.

Quitting the office.

Leaving a stable job wasn’t easy, but I took the leap.
My husband (then fiancé) fully supported me, and I started working from home, dedicating myself entirely to my passion.

The growth of LemonkaStore.

My Etsy shop was running, and I kept drawing new illustrations. I relied on intuition, knowing little about marketing and SEO, so I was constantly learning. Things were going well, but I realized I wanted more creative freedom.

Seamless patterns

When selling on marketplaces, you're heavily limited by demand, trends, and even strict platform rules. So, after a year, I started my Instagram page, naming it LemonkaStore, and began experimenting with a whole new direction — seamless patterns.

First success

In the first month, I started getting sales, and after just 7 months, I had my first SOLD OUT. Clients began reaching out with requests for custom designs. This feedback was a huge motivation for me — I finally felt like I had found the job I’ve always dreamed of.

My signature feature

In April 2024, I developed a new concept — Seamless Story. These are large-scale seamless patterns filled with details, almost like illustrated storybook spreads. The first design, a Halloween-themed pattern, sold out in just one day. Then came the Christmas and Easter collections, which received incredible feedback. That’s how I found what set me apart.
